The improvisation summer course 2010 is designed so that artists can place their attention on the practice of improvisation within their dance or music studies or as a part of their professional work. Emphasis is placed on the practice of improvisation as a means to develop performance presence, composition skills, group collaboration and the integration of performance mediums.
Content
• One week of improvisation sessions with direction.
• Five performance projects with five-day rehearsal processes and two performances for each project. Groups will be created out of the 20 course artists so that artists perform and/or do production work for one of the performances. Production work includes lighting, video mixing, sound, stage management.
• Two workshops. Dance performance by Agustin Belluschi from Spain and Feldenkrais + Dance by Vincent Cacalano and Alan McDormitt from England
• Two weeks of tutorials with Katie Duck and Manuela Tessi advising Internet presence, individual networking and the course artists performances.
• Two-week process for the course artist’s performances. Studio space allotted for rehearsals and advice from the staff involved with the course.
• A Workshops series offered outside of the course hours with a half price fee for all artists attending the course.
Katie Duck will be accepting 18 dancers and 2 musicians.
