Text, movement and music have been integrated in my performances since the 70’s with an ear on how this can integrate musically as well as produce an objectified meaning of events. These experiences are what I use to distinguish a Music Theatre platform for interdisciplinary real time performances.

In the TEXT workshop I have invited Erik van de Wijdeven and Jonathan Nagel. Erik is an actor who is using improvisation and body work as a base for how he invents text using accents from all over the world. Jonathan is a well trained contrabass player who has integrated text and body into his music world as a poet and monologue performer and writer.

We will begin each day with body work that leads us towards each individuals style for how they write text in a theatre platform. We will experiment with text structures; monologue, story telling, dialogue, silique, poetry, lyric and abstract vocal work.

I have invented improvisation games for developing instant writing skills that we play in relationship to body work and music. These games hone in your intentions for how, what and why you wish to speak in a theatre platform under the scrutiny of interdisciplinary activity.

Each day I will extend the workshop towards improvisation sessions, setting a fictional front in the studio space and then declare this as a platform to choose pause, flow or exit. The limit of these three choices provide the frame for a composition to take place with an access to accept the misunderstandings, coincidences, messiness, emotions and inspiration as basic in a creative process.

Two microphones will be placed in the space to be used as a means to listen deeper to ones text offerings with the option to use acoustic vocals at any time.
